John Mark Stephenson

John-Mark Stephenson is a Texas-based volume dance and portrait photographer serving Houston, Dallas, and Boerne.
He launched his photography business in 2006, beginning—like many great ventures—in his living room, photographing high school seniors and families. He later operated a studio in Tomball, Texas, which he relinquished following relocation to Seattle.
John-Mark’s journey into volume dance photography began in 2005 at the studio where his daughter trained, photographing recital portraits. He has been captivated by the art of dance ever since. Over the years, he has photographed studios ranging from intimate programs with just 15 dancers—one of his favorite stories—to large academies with more than 700 students.
Active in the Pas de Deux dance community, John-Mark served as a mentor for the 2023 PDD Conference and is a moderator for both the Pas de Deux and Dance Studio Photography Facebook forums. His deep appreciation for the art of dance, along with his commitment to continually refining his craft, drives his desire to support and mentor other photographers. Over the years, he has helped mentor and guide many emerging dance photographers as they build their businesses.
