Taking Volume Beyond Recitals: Turning Dance Photography Into Year-Round Business

Monday, February 15, 2027

12:15 PM - 1:30 PM

Sandhill Crane

Photographing a studio’s recital can be the beginning of the client relationship, not the end of it. In this business-focused session, Francisco will explore how photographers can turn relationships with dance studios, dancers, and families into opportunities that extend throughout the entire year. From studio marketing and company portraits to audition photos, senior portraits, individual creative sessions, events, weddings, and family photography, dancers can become some of a photographer’s most valuable long-term clients.

Attendees will learn how to identify additional opportunities within an existing dance studio relationship and create services that meet the needs of studios, dancers, and their families throughout the year. Francisco will discuss opportunities including performance media, studio marketing shoots, audition sessions, headshots, creative dance sessions, senior portraits, family portraits, events, and weddings, as well as ways to build relationships with dancers and families while maintaining a strong partnership with the studio.

The goal is for attendees to leave thinking beyond the individual recital or picture day and begin viewing each studio relationship as the foundation for a larger, long-term photography business. Francisco will share examples from his own photography business and discuss how serving studios well can create an ecosystem of opportunities without constantly having to find an entirely new audience.
