Posing Skilled Dancers: Enhancing shapes made with the body.
Sunday, February 14, 2027
3:15 PM - 4:30 PM
Audubron Ballroom
During this class, we will be discussing different ways to think outside of the box when we are posing and doing movement direction for subjects in our photoshoots. I think with dance photography particularly, it’s imperative to have a strong sense of how malleable the body is and to have a deeper understanding of ways to enhance shapes with our subjects. I say “with” because I do believe this is a collaborative process and the photographer should feel confident in sharing their ideas and explore with the subject to come up with something unique together. In this class I will be sharing different cues I think to myself when shooting to mold a standard dance pose to something more abstract while still having the foundation of good dance technique. By the end of this session, attendees will feel more confident creating a more dynamic range of poses with their subject.
